Apply用法分析
一、apply表示“應(yīng)用”、“運用”、“適用”等，注意以下用法：
①表示“應(yīng)用”、“運用”等，通常為及物動詞；要表示“將...運用到...”，通常用介詞to：
Wedecided to apply a new method. 我們決定使用新方法。
Inthis way we can better apply theory to practice.這樣我們就能更好地把理論運用到實踐中去。
②表示“適用”，通常為不及物動詞；要表示“適用于...”，通常用介詞to(不能用 for)：
Therule doesn’t apply in all cases. 此規(guī)則并非適用于所有的情形。
Thebook does not apply to beginners. 這書不適合于初學(xué)者。
These methods applyto learning English. 這些方法適用于英語學(xué)習(xí)。
二、apply表示“申請”，注意以下用法：
①可用及物或不及物動詞，表示“申請得到...”，要用介詞for；表示“申請做某事”，其后接不定式：
Youmay apply in person or by letter. 你親自或通過書信申請均可。
Morethan 30 people applied for the position.有30多個人申請這個職位。
Heapplied to stay there. 他申請留在那兒。
比較以下兩同義句：
去年他申請入黨。
正：Last year heapplied to join the Party.
正：Last year heapplied for membership in the Party.
②表示“向...申請(得到)...”，通常用apply to...for...：
Heapplied to us for help. 他向我們求援。
Theyapplied to the government for financial help.他們向政府申請經(jīng)濟援助。
三、apply用于短語 apply oneself to (專心致力于，專心從事)，其中的 to是介詞，其后接名詞或動名詞：
Heapplied himself to his work. 他專心工作。
Sheapplied herself to learning English. 她專心學(xué)習(xí)英語。
有時用apply one's mindto：
Apply your mind toyour work. 專心工作吧。
四、apply的派生詞
①applicable adj.適用于：
Thisrule is not applicable to foreigners.這條規(guī)則不適用于外國人。
②applicant n.申請者(可數(shù))：
There are threeapplicants for the job. 有三個人申請這項工作。
③application n.申請(不可數(shù))；申請書(可數(shù))；使用，應(yīng)用 ，適用(可數(shù)或不可數(shù))：
Application must bemade this afternoon. 申請必須在今天下午提出。
It’sof very wide application. 它的適用范圍很廣。
Wereceived 60 applications for the job.對這項工作我們收到60個人的求職申請。
