齊白石(1864一1957)，男，漢族，湖南湘潭人，二十世紀(jì)十大畫家之一，世界文化名人。是我國20世紀(jì)著名的書畫大師和書法篆刻巨匠。其曾任北京國立藝專教授、中央美術(shù)學(xué)院名譽(yù)教授、北京畫院名譽(yù)院長、中國美術(shù)家協(xié)會(huì)主席等職。曾被授予“中國人民藝術(shù)家”的稱號(hào)、榮獲世界和平理事會(huì)1955年度國際和平金獎(jiǎng)。代表作品有《花卉草蟲十二開冊(cè)頁》，《白石草衣金石刻畫》等。2011年5月22日，他的最大尺幅作品《松柏高立圖·篆書四言聯(lián)》被拍出4.255億元人民幣的天價(jià)。
齊白石出身貧寒，做過農(nóng)活，曾居住于湖南省漣源市楊市鎮(zhèn)。1877年，跟隨叔祖父學(xué)過木匠，次年改學(xué)雕花木工。1888年起始學(xué)畫，從民間畫工入手，曾習(xí)古人真跡，摹《芥子園畫傳》并據(jù)以作雕花新樣。他學(xué)詩文書法，游山川名勝，作幕僚寓客，終于成了詩、書、印、畫全人神品的千古偉人；他將中國畫的精神與時(shí)代的精神統(tǒng)一得完美無瑕，使中國畫得到國際的重視；他樸實(shí)謙虛、自信自強(qiáng)的精神，使他的作品剛?cè)峒鏉?jì)，工書俱佳，不愧為人民的藝術(shù)家，曾任龍山詩社社長。晚年定居北京。時(shí)與陳師曾、徐悲鴻、羅癭公、林風(fēng)眠等相過從。
在他的筆下，大凡花鳥蟲魚、山水、人物無一不精，無一不新，為現(xiàn)代中國繪畫史創(chuàng)造了一個(gè)質(zhì)樸清新的藝術(shù)世界。他成功地以經(jīng)典的筆墨意趣傳達(dá)了中國畫的現(xiàn)代藝術(shù)精神，深深得益于經(jīng)典樣式而又善于出新，故而他的畫能夠直接地感動(dòng)人心，向天下眾生傳達(dá)生命的智慧和生活的哲理。他的山水畫表達(dá)他對(duì)自己藝術(shù)創(chuàng)新的自信與深刻體悟，他的人物畫長于傳神達(dá)情，他的書法簡(jiǎn)約大方、雄健渾厚的筆意融入人物畫中，完善了人物內(nèi)在的神情的表達(dá)。
1926年，齊白石任國立北平藝術(shù)專科學(xué)校名譽(yù)教授；1949年7月、1953年9月兩次出席中華全國文學(xué)藝術(shù)工作者代表大會(huì)，連續(xù)當(dāng)選為全國文聯(lián)委員；1954年8月當(dāng)選第一屆全國人民代表大會(huì)代表，與毛澤東主席交誼甚深并受到過接見；1953年1月文化部授予其榮譽(yù)獎(jiǎng)狀及“人民藝術(shù)家”稱號(hào)；1955年12月德意志民主共和國藝術(shù)科學(xué)院授予其通訊院士榮譽(yù)狀；1956年4月世界和平理事會(huì)授予其1955年度國際和平獎(jiǎng)金，9月舉行授獎(jiǎng)儀式；1963年被世界和平理事會(huì)推舉為世界文化名人。

Qi Baishi was bornpoor, doing farm work, have lived in Yang town of lianyuan in Hunanprovince. In 1877, following Uncle grandfather learned carpentry,carved wood modified the following year.
