愛華網(wǎng)卡朋特樂隊由著名的歌星卡朋特與她哥哥理查德·卡朋特組成，卡倫·卡朋特1950年生于美國康耐狄格州，從小在哥哥的影響下學(xué)習(xí)樂器，成了一名鼓手，大她三歲的哥哥理查德是個非常有才華的青年，擔(dān)任鋼琴伴奏和制作人，并創(chuàng)作了大量歌曲。后來在著名經(jīng)紀(jì)人德紐文的幫助下，進(jìn)入了美國流行樂壇。1970年一曲《靠近你》(CloseToYou)榮登排行榜首，這使卡朋特樂隊一炮走紅，70年代中他們不斷有佳作聞世，成為無數(shù)美國青年的偶像，尼克松總統(tǒng)稱卡朋特兄妹是最出色的美國青年。
上帝總是嫉妒賦有才華的人，卡朋特(Carpenter)因為報紙上一句"胖妹妹"的評論而刻意節(jié)食,并染上厭食癥,直到1981年才同意治療，但已是為時過晚了，昨日畢竟不能重現(xiàn)，長年來每天服用大量瀉藥和甲狀腺激素已把她的身體徹底搞垮，并最終因此斷送性命，時間定格在1983年2月4日。墓碑上刻著這樣簡單的文字：astar on earth，a star in heaven.“A song for you”
